An online destination connecting gamers around the world, allowing them to share gaming experiences, events, challenges and achievements. Our system automatically tracks information about what you do in games, and presents it in a way that makes it easy for your friends to check out. Read more about Rupture on our About page.
Report it! We've done a lot of testing, but we definitely anticipate crazy things to be discovered by our users. If you find something that doesn't work or look right, send an email to feedback AT rupture DOT com or click the feedback link at the top of the page!
We've made a lot of changes the last several months. Based on the feedback, and usage, we collected during our initial beta last year we've done work to make Rupture more amazing. Now, we're structured around the gamer (you!) and what is happening in the games people are playing. As a heads up, you’ll likely see things change around the site as our team continues to make improvements and implement exciting new features. We really like our new design and are excited to see what you guys think, too.
We recommend using Firefox. Also supported is Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher and Safari.
We’ve never done any form of marketing as we have not officially launched and currently remain in closed beta!
Everyone who had an account on the previous beta site still has one. The easiest way to find friends is to search for them by using the search tool in the upper right hand corner of the page! Although the search is limited in its current form - we plan to improve the functionality very soon to allow users to search for names of clans, guilds, and more!
Watching people you're interested in is very easy. In the upper right of any feed there is a button called "Subscribe". Clicking on it will add that feed to your dashboard! In the future we may do different things if two people choose to subscribe to each other.
We didn't want Rupture to be another social site where you create yet another friend network that has no real value. Instead, simply find and subscribe to all the people that you're interested in. When you subscribe to someone, you become a fan of theirs.
We would love to get your friends rockin' on Rupture - they can sign up here
The core of Rupture. The feed displays events collected by a gamer. Right now, feeds are created for every gamer and any games they've added to the site. In the future, feeds will be very customizable and offer advanced filtering options. Additionally, events listed in feeds will soon include expandable details!
When viewing a gamers profile, the "Games" box under their picture allows you to easily subscribe to every game and/or character that person plays. To subscribe to an individual feed, use the "Subscribe" button in the upper right of the feed you’re currently viewing.
Simply load the user's feed you want to remove and click "Stop Following" which is an option present when clicking on their thumbnail picture. Note: We're working on implementing a more visible way of doing this as we're well aware that it's a bit hidden, doh!
Because you’re important, too! Actually, many users find it useful being able to view their own events in their All Subscriptions feed so we left the option in there to subscribe to yourself.
The icons are a label for what type of event it is. The different types of events are an advancement, achievement, match, group match, status or numerical event.
They will... soon!
A manage panel exists on your dashboard. Click "View Games" under My Games to expand a full list of all the games you're profiling on Rupture. Once there, using the "X" next to the game will allow you to remove it. This section of our website is currently being styled and we are working on improving its functionality; we know it looks a bit ugly.
Use the “Add a Game” link in the header (top of the page). Once there, you can scroll through a list of supported games that you play to add to your feed!
A failure to import will occur as a result of a few different causes. Possible causes are:
You can check for the last successful import by hovering over the colored indicator next to the source under your "Games" in the "Manage" box.
We're not quite ready to spill all the beans here just yet... but we're excited about what we have coming. We’d love to hear any suggestions about what games you’d like to see on Rupture so make sure you drop us a line via our feedback link at the top of the page or e-mail us directly at feedback AT rupture DOT com.
We are always working on implementing new games into the system. You can expect new games to be supported nearly every month.
The previously detailed profiles, specifically geared towards World of Warcraft, just didn’t fit in the direction we went with the new system. Some of the data that was previously tracked through our client and displayed on the old site before is still there, it just resides in a much more minor form as a simple event. However, we have big plans for events which we’re currently scoping out right now. These plans will include bringing back certain features and data tracking that many of you have been asking about!
Click on edit profile in the upper right hand corner of any page. Once your photo is uploaded, you can drag the photo around in our thumbnail viewer to center it as desired. In addition to uploading a photo, you can also edit your account details here.
Feedback, feedback, feedback! We love hearing any and all suggestions, comments, questions and even complaints! Any feedback we receive we view as valuable information relating to our product. We love talking to and hearing from our users as most of us are gamers just like you. All feedback can be directed to feedback AT rupture DOT com, or click the feedback link at the top of the page which will pop up a simple box for you to type in and easily submit whatever you have to say!
We use a super freakin' awesome tool called Campfire, internally, and have setup a public channel for all of our users to join us in conversation. It's a live chat channel where you can find help from the Rupture team, talk amongst other users, discuss other Rupture related topics, make suggestions, report bugs, or shout out anything else that's on your mind! Join us in discussion!
See above! Forums may sneak their way in, eventually - only the future will tell!
Rupture Client is a lightweight application designed and built by the Rupture team. It enhances a users Rupture experience by providing an efficient way to bring additional and detailed data to a users profile through the use of modules for your games. It's written in C++ using the wxWidgets library and compiles natively on Windows and Mac.
Windows XP / Vista and Mac OS X 10.5.
No, but it does some cool stuff! Use of the client will enhance your Rupture experience by producing additional events through the tracking of extra and more detailed data for your games. We certainly recommend it if you're playing any games the client supports.
A quick download is available in the download section of our website. Make sure to download the appropriate client for your operating system.
Well, it's quite simple! The client merely pulls and tracks extra data for different games you play. So Rupture essentially works in two ways. We automatically add events to your feed for your games if there is a source to pull events from. A couple examples of this are Blizzard's Armory and Valve's Steam. The use of the client allows you to publish extra game data not available from those sites. One of the features of "extra data" the client tracks is your presence being broadcast to your Rupture profile letting your friends know what game you're currently stomping faces in! We consider the client optimal for advanced users, but it is very easy to use.
Data is submitted to the site, instantly, upon exiting whatever game you're playing. However, in most cases, the display of data on your feed will not be immediate. There is a delay of a few minutes, or more, before the site will actually publish the data to your feed.
Simply put, it is a game plugin for the client. Modules are additions to the client that create events that would normally not be available through the Rupture site. An example would be winning an arena match in World of Warcraft.
Currently, there are two modules which come pre-packaged with the Rupture Client: World of Warcraft, Grid Wars. Upon running the client after your first installation, you have the option to setup any of our Rupture modules by checking the box next to the module name during the setup process.
Alternatively, you can install a module by on the Modules tab. Click the "+" icon to install a module or the "-" icon to uninstall a module.Modules can be viewed by selecting the Modules tab, in the client. Highlight the module you wish to start or stop. Click the "Play" icon to start a module or click the "Stop" icon to stop a module. You can tell if a module is start or stopped by the status color next to the module name. Green means the module is active; red means the module is inactive.
